Dark Bird is my first solo album, which meant full artistic responsibility for the first time. I wanted to create a universe, not just a collection of songs. A pause from everyday life.
I had a specific sound in my head for the four years it took to make. Søren Vestergaard was my co-producer and absolutely essential, but the direction was always mine.
The album circles around breaking with the conventions we carry about family life, fear of drowning, loss of love, and finding the courage to go your own way. It is more electronic than anything I have done before, mixed by Jeff Ellis.
Music is sacred to me. In the hardest periods of my life it has always been my most faithful companion. Dark Bird is the most personal thing I have ever made.
